Public Opinions

Public Opinions commonly known as Directorate of Public Opinions started its operations in 2002 at Makerere University as a student’s forum for advocacy, research and a Study Group on key issues of National and Global concern. In 2008, the organization was incorporated by the Registrar of Companies-Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs of the Republic of Uganda as a Civil Society Organization advocating, promoting and strengthening the core values of democracy and good governance, human rights, sustainable peace and development and reform of the United Nations as it was reaffirmed by World Leaders during the 2005 World Leaders Forum.
OUR VISION

To advocate, promote and strengthen the core values of Democracy and Good Governance, Human Rights, Sustainable Peace and Development in Africa and enhance the relevancy and effectiveness of the United Nations organization

To promote and ensure good governance, effective service delivery and prosperity in all human aspects whether in public or private sector in Africa.

GOAL

To attain the “Common Good” of the people of Uganda and Africa in a broader perspective.

To act as a centre for advocating, promoting and strengthening democracy and good governance, human rights, sustainable peace and development in Africa.
To ensure public awareness and participation in implementation of the programs of the United Nations and those of the government of Uganda.
As an institute for strategic studies, Public Opinions operate a policy think tank and Study Group that originates policies and programs that can lead to social-economic development of Uganda and Africa in general.
To act as a strategic research centre for governments, diplomatic missions, national, regional and international organizations within and outside Africa.
To promote and deepen Corporate Social Responsibility and the principles of the United Nations Global Compact
To act as a Study Group for the reform of the United Nations Organization, World Bank, International Monetary Fund and other Regional Organizations in Africa.
To operate as a follow-up, monitoring and evaluation agency of the treaties, programs and policies of the United Nations and other bilateral arrangements in Africa.
To act as an ethics, integrity and anti-corruption organization in Africa.
To seek and disseminate public opinions to authorities and the general public.
To operate as a civic development, election monitoring and observation organization.
To act as a Public Services and political monitoring organization in Africa
To seek local,national,regional and international cooperation in the promotion and protection of all human rights of the people of Africa
To act as a public funds monitoring agency
To organise and promote public private sector causing in lower local government levels within and outside Uganda
To enter into partnership and collaboration with agencies and individuals from within and outside Africa with bias in human rights, corporate social responsibility,UN reform, sustainable development, democracy and good governance, community literacy, environmental protection,anti-corruption,etc.
